Job description
About Educify Educify is a fast-growing EdTech company on a mission to make quality education accessible, affordable, and personalized for learners everywhere. We connect skilled, passionate educators with students across Canada, the United States, and beyond — and we're expanding our team of online tutors to meet growing demand.
The Opportunity
We're hiring an Online Music Tutor to deliver inspiring, one-on-one and small-group music lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you specialize in piano, guitar, violin, vocals, drums, music theory, or any other discipline — if you have the ability to bring music to life for a student and make the learning journey as enjoyable as the music itself, we want you on our team. This is more than a tutoring role. Music has the power to build confidence, discipline, creativity, and emotional intelligence in young learners — and you'll be at the heart of that transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured, engaging online music tutoring sessions tailored to each student's instrument, skill level, age, and personal musical goals
Assess each student's current abilities and design progressive lesson plans covering technique, music theory, ear training, sight-reading, and performance
Teach foundational skills to beginners while also challenging intermediate learners to refine their technique and expand their repertoire
Adapt your teaching style and lesson content to suit students of different ages — from young children discovering music for the first time to teenagers preparing for exams or performances
Use Educify's virtual learning tools alongside music-specific resources to deliver high-quality, interactive sessions
Monitor and document each student's musical progress and provide consistent, constructive feedback after every lesson
Foster a creative, patient, and encouraging environment that keeps students excited about learning and growing as musicians
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians on student development, practice recommendations, and upcoming milestones
Instruments & Disciplines Covered
Piano & Keyboard — Beginner through intermediate technique, scales, chords, sight-reading, and repertoire development
Guitar — Acoustic and electric, chord progressions, strumming patterns, fingerpicking, and music theory for guitarists
Violin & Strings — Bowing technique, posture, scales, and progressive repertoire for beginner to intermediate students
Vocals — Breath control, pitch, tone, vocal exercises, and performance confidence for singers of all levels
Drums & Percussion — Rhythm fundamentals, coordination, rudiments, and beginner through intermediate drumming technique
Music Theory — Note reading, scales, intervals, chords, rhythm, and ear training for students across all instruments
Ukulele & Bass — Beginner instruction, chord shapes, rhythm, and introductory music theory
General Music for Young Learners — Foundational music education for children ages 5–10, focusing on rhythm, pitch, listening, and a love for music
Qualifications Proficiency in one or more musical instruments or vocal disciplines listed above
Previous experience teaching or tutoring music in any setting — private lessons, music school, classroom, or online instruction
Strong knowledge of music theory and the ability to integrate it naturally into practical lessons
Ability to teach students of different ages, learning styles, and skill levels with patience and creativity
A warm, encouraging, and adaptable teaching style that keeps students motivated through both the challenges and the breakthroughs
Formal music education (Bachelor's in Music, Music Education, or equivalent conservatory training) is an asset — but strong practical experience and a proven ability to teach will be equally considered
Reliable high-speed internet connection, laptop, webcam, and a quiet, acoustically suitable space for music instruction
