Online School Educator: Technology & ICT (Senior Phase)

Optimi is looking for a passionate, innovative and learner-focused Online School Educator to join our online learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned Technology and ICT lessons, supporting learner development, conducting assessments, maintaining effective communication with parents and guardians, and contributing to the continuous improvement of online teaching and learning.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Education (BEd) Degree or PGCE in related field.
• Minimum 3 years' teaching experience, with 5+ years of teaching experience in the FET phase.
• SACE registered.
• Experience in teaching, with online teaching experience advantageous.
• Proficiency in Afrikaans and English.
• Extensive subject knowledge and good teaching and assessment skills.

DUTIES:

• Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons in an online learning environment.
• Plan, prepare and facilitate effective lessons that encourage active learner participation.
• Assess learner performance, mark SBA components, maintain accurate records and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify learners experiencing academic challenges and provide appropriate interventions, including extra classes, intervention sessions, masterclasses and virtual support meetings.
• Monitor learner attendance, academic progress and outstanding tasks, and communicate concerns and follow-ups to learners, parents and guardians.
• Provide educational, social and developmental guidance to learners and refer them to appropriate specialist support where necessary.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, mark books and other required administrative documentation.
• Manage daily emails and communication with learners, parents, guardians, colleagues and other relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in staff meetings, formal assessments, subject guidance sessions and other online school activities as required.
• Provide regular feedback to management on teaching, learning, learner progress and areas requiring intervention.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, support staff and other professionals to support learner wellbeing and educational success.
• Support the leadership team in implementing the online school's development plan.
• Research and stay informed about emerging educational trends, digital tools and technologies relevant to Technology and ICT.
• Recommend and implement innovative teaching methods, products and technologies that enhance the online learning experience.
• Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to teacher development and innovation initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of teaching, learner engagement, assessment, communication and professional conduct.
