Job description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Online Singing / Vocal Teacher to join our music education team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vocal performance and pedagogy, with proven experience in both Musical Theatre and Classical singing styles. Familiarity with the ABRSM syllabus (or equivalent vocal curricula) is highly desirable, alongside the ability to inspire students of all ages and skill levels.
This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, fostering a love for music, and helping students achieve their musical and vocal goals in a supportive online environment.
Duties
- Develop and implement tailored vocal lesson plans that cater to the individual needs, vocal ranges, and stylistic goals of each student.
- Teach vocal techniques (including breath control, pitch, resonance, diction, and vocal health), music theory, and performance skills in a structured manner.
- Encourage students to express their creativity, interpret lyrics, and develop their unique musical and artistic style across different genres.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to enhance their vocal development.
- Prepare students for performances, auditions, examinations, or competitions as required.
- Maintain an organised digital environment for lessons, ensuring all sheet music, backing tracks, and resources are readily available.
- Communicate effectively with students and their guardians regarding progress and any areas for improvement.
Skills
- Proficiency in vocal performance with a strong, versatile background in both Musical Theatre and Classical singing.
- Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not essential; a passion for teaching and vocal coaching is key.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey vocal mechanics, acting-through-song, and classical techniques in an online setting.
- Patience and adaptability to accommodate different learning paces, ages, and vocal capabilities.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering a positive, confidence-building learning atmosphere.
- Knowledge of music theory and the ability to teach it alongside practical vocal skills.
