A Snapshot of Your Day

Onshore Project Manager at Siemens Energy

This role is being created to establish a dedicated Onshore Project Manager in South Africa for MGT (Rest of World Power Generation) projects, ensuring business continuity and localized oversight for the Africa region. This position will be integral to the Global Customer Operations Project Management team. To address this need, the role will focus on three core areas: comprehensive end-to-end project lifecycle management, rigorous financial and performance control, and proactive stakeholder and risk management. This structure ensures that all MGT projects in the region are delivered successfully from initiation to completion, meeting all strategic, financial, and quality objectives. Given the focus on leading complex initiatives with limited oversight, the ideal candidate will be a recognized subject matter expert with extensive experience in general business project management. Essential requirements include proven expertise in project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and risk mitigation, along with the ability to coach and guide other professionals.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Plan, organize, and control all resources, procedures, and timelines for MGT projects across the Africa region.
  • Develop comprehensive project schedules, define project scope, and assign responsibilities to project team members.
  • Manage the entire project lifecycle from initiation and implementation through to successful project closure, ensuring all milestones are met.
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards (e.g., ISO) throughout the project duration.
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals and project team members to foster development and ensure successful execution.
  • Monitor and report on the status of all assigned projects, providing clear updates on cost, timing, and staffing to management.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within financial constraints.
  • Oversee project-related financial processes, including billing and invoicing, in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, plans, and closure documents.
  • Identify, analyse, and resolve complex obstacles and risks that threaten project timelines, budgets, or quality.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, managing relationships and ensuring clear communication.
  • Integrate and review vendor tasks and deliverables, ensuring they align with the overall project plan and quality standards.
  • Lead change management activities associated with project delivery and drive process improvements within the project management function.

What You Bring

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Significant professional experience (typically 8+ years) in managing large or complex business projects in a multinational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience as a subject matter expert (SME) with a proven ability to manage projects with limited oversight and coach junior professionals.
