A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Operational Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials and services required for Large Steam Turbine operations in the United States. You will manage day-to-day purchasing activities, coordinate closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and ensure procurement data is accurate and up to date within SAP.
Working independently on operational procurement activities, you will contribute to maintaining efficient supply chain operations by managing purchase orders, supporting supplier performance, resolving procurement issues, and identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement.
How You'll Make an Impact
Tactical Procurement & Order Management
- Execute operational procurement activities for assigned materials and services.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and evaluate supplier quotations based on total cost of ownership.
- Create, maintain, and monitor Purchase Orders to ensure accuracy and timely execution.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmations, production schedules, delivery status, and quality requirements.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers within assigned commodity areas.
Supplier & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Logistics, and other internal stakeholders to resolve procurement-related issues.
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance.
- Support supplier claim management and clarification of contractual terms and conditions.
- Coordinate with Logistics to ensure transportation and customs compliance.
Procurement Data & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate procurement master data, Purchase Orders, and Purchasing Information Records within SAP.
- Monitor procurement KPIs, including savings, supplier performance, and on-time delivery.
- Analyze procurement data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize procurement processes and tools.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in direct purchasing, material requirements planning (MRP), or a similar supply chain role.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, or power generation environments is preferred.
- Experience managing operational procurement activities and supplier interactions.
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
- Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Proficiency with SAP ERP.
- Experience using procurement systems and procurement reporting tools.
- Knowledge of supplier relationship and supplier performance management.
- Understanding of contract administration and procurement compliance.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.

The Procurement team for Large Steam Turbines is responsible for ensuring the reliable and cost-effective supply of materials and services that support critical manufacturing and operational activities. By working closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams, the department drives operational excellence, supplier performance, process efficiency, and supply chain reliability while supporting Siemens Energy's commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
