Operational Supervisor

A transportation supervisor directly oversees the daily activities, workload and personnel and their vehicle use to ensure that clients receive the services booked as specified. The Supervisor should ensure that they maximize operational efficiency while minimizing costs.

You must monitor the transportation to ensure funds are properly utilized and implement organizational objectives as dictated by management. You will manage databases that detail transport activities, financial accounting, employee schedules and personnel records. Management also relies on you for hiring and firing recommendations, training staff in department policies and procedures, and sharing information about new laws or technological advances. In addition, you must often serve as a point of contact for customers, building relationships and addressing complaints though the correct channels.

2.1. Provide daily supervision of assigned drivers and monitors to ensure proper and consistent performance of duties.
2.2. Allocating driver assignments/ trips
2.3. Ensuring compliance with safety standards,
2.4. Ensuing vehicles assigned are maintained and in top working order (Conduct Spot Checks)
2.5. Evaluates performance of bus drivers and driver applicants for the purpose of ensuring that basic skills levels are met and are in compliance with company requirements
2.6. Conducting Daily vehicle and driver assessments
2.7. Ensure the trip schedule is verified with the bookings department
2.8. Train and assist drivers and monitors concerning student behaviour management issues and work related situations
2.9. Train drivers and monitors in proper wheelchair securement and special needs passenger requirements
2.10. Drive buses of varying sizes and complexity over designated routes in accordance with time schedules when required
2.11. Conduct field investigations of vehicular accidents involving buses
2.12. Assist regulators as required to allow them to perform the work of Supervisor in the Supervisor’s absence.
2.13. Perform other duties as assigned.
