Job Title: Operations Assistant

Position overview
The Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the company’s technology systems, across one or more projects that may have different technology components. This role ensures that project equipment functions effectively and meets customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will assist in both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks while maintaining records of maintenance activities. The Operations Assistant may be assigned to work in the field, Depot or in the control room. Location is determined based on operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Front end: Camera Operations: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
1.1 Ensure all cameras are operational daily.
1.2 Ensure that cameras are downloaded.
1.2.1 Semi-fixed and Mobile cameras daily.
1.2.2 Fixed site and Video site every 2 days
1.3 Ensure batteries are placed on charge for next shift operations.
1.4 Maintaining a vigilant and protective presence.
1.5 Complying with all reasonable requests for assistance.
2. Front End: I-Ticket Device: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
2.1 Training Officers on the use of the device and printers.
2.2 Troubleshooting of devices and printers and general support.
2.3 Issuing of devices and printers and record keeping of the asset.
2.4 Updating of software on the devices.
3. Support: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
3.1 Inspection of camera boxes, camera equipment and camera sites and reporting of any issues.
3.2 Maintaining the camera equipment by cleaning and authorized minor repairs of the equipment on a regular basis.
3.3 Regular sites visit as required.
3.4 Ensure that all assigned call logs are resolved within the agreed timelines.
3.5 Be available on a standby basis after hours, weekends and public holidays as required.
4. Installation: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
4.1 Assist with camera installation as required including plinths, poles, signs, and cabling.
5. Vehicles: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
5.1 Ensure that vehicles are serviced regularly.
5.2 Daily inspection of the vehicle and reporting of any damage or repairs needed e.g., rust on vehicle or accidents.
5.3 Ensure proper control and use of company vehicles.
5.4 Ensure that the Company Fleet Policy is strictly adhered to.
6. General Administrative Duties: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
6.1 Ensure that the attendance register is always up to date.
6.2 Ensure that all front-end operations helpdesk calls are logged daily.
6.3 Ensure logbooks are completed with every trip.
6.4 Ensure that accidents are reported within 24hours of the occurrence
to SAPS and Fleet Manager.
6.5 Provide any front-end related reports as required.
6.6 Ensure that all client interaction and communication is done in a professional and respectable manner
Education and Experience
· Matric, NQF equivalent or NQF Level 4 or higher.
· Minimum 2 years prior experience in a similar role or within the traffic monitoring and admin work environment.
· Ability to drive. Valid driver’s license.
Skills and Competencies
· Must be IT literate.
· Basic knowledge of traffic monitoring systems.
· Ability to operate basic computer systems.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills.
· Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong administration skills.
· Good communication skills for interacting with team members, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
· Enjoy working in a team but also can work independently.
· Be patient, tactful, diplomatic, and approachable.
· Demonstration of customer service orientation.
· Willingness to travel.
· Flexibility to do shift work.
