Job description
Job Purpose
To lead and manage all operational and logistics functions of the business, ensuring efficient daily operations, optimal resource utilization, compliance with health and safety standards, effective staff management, and continuous improvement of operational processes to support company growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Control
- Lead, manage, and develop all Operations and Logistics personnel.
- Ensure the efficient day-to-day running of all operational activities.
- Continuously develop, improve, and optimize operational infrastructure and processes.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure the ongoing maintenance of company facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate external service providers for repairs and maintenance beyond internal capabilities.
- Ensure all company vehicles are loaded, dispatched, and leave the factory by 08:30 each working day.
- Open and secure the factory premises daily.
- Maintain adequate stock levels to support operational requirements.
- Monitor Stock On Hand in line with operational requirements and company budgets.
Logistics Control
- Oversee fleet scheduling and delivery planning to ensure efficient customer service.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Stay informed of industry developments and implement best practices where applicable.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide recommendations to maintain a competitive advantage.
People Control
- Recruit, interview, select, onboard, and train new employees.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to improve performance.
- Ensure all employees have current job descriptions and clearly understand their responsibilities and performance expectations.
- Conduct performance management discussions where required.
- Prepare and facilitate disciplinary hearings in accordance with company policies and labour legislation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Maintain compliance documentation and operational records.
- Oversee insurance administration and ensure policy requirements are met.
- Manage maintenance schedules for equipment, facilities, grease traps, and rodent control services.
Financial & Commercial Responsibilities
- Assist in controlling operational costs through efficient purchasing and resource management.
- Monitor supplier pricing and negotiate where appropriate.
Administration
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including:
- Preventative maintenance schedules
- Rodent control records
- Grease trap maintenance records
- Vehicle sales sheets
- Operational documentation
Reporting
Prepare and submit accurate:
- Daily operational reports
- Weekly performance reports
- Monthly management reports
- Fleet and logistics reports
- Maintenance reports
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Vehicles dispatched by 08:30 daily.
- Stock availability maintained above agreed minimum levels.
- Fleet availability and vehicle uptime.
- On-time customer deliveries.
- Health & Safety compliance.
- Operational cost control.
- Employee productivity and performance.
- Infrastructure and equipment uptime.
- Continuous process improvement initiatives implemented.
Pay: R14 000,00 - R18 000,00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Bellville South, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
