Introduction
Well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Operations Manager - Fleet & Technical Services to lead the operational performance of multiple fleet maintenance facilities. This role is suited to a commercially minded leader with extensive experience in workshop operations, fleet management and service delivery, who can drive operational excellence while identifying opportunities for business growth.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of several sites, maintaining high technical standards, improving profitability, managing key customer relationships and leading a high-performing operational team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the operational performance of multiple workshop and fleet maintenance facilities.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that improve profitability, productivity and customer service.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across technical and operational functions.
- Ensure preventative maintenance programmes are executed efficiently to maximise fleet availability.
- Manage workshop performance, quality standards and turnaround times.
- Oversee budgets, operational costs and financial performance across the region.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure service delivery meets agreed customer expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing business and secure new service contracts.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, transport regulations and company policies.
- Oversee stock control, procurement processes and asset utilisation.
- Analyse operational reports and implement corrective actions where required.
- Lead, mentor and develop regional management and workshop teams.
- Drive operational compliance, governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transport Management or a related qualification.
- Minimum 8 years' experience managing fleet operations, workshop operations or logistics environments.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior operational or regional management role.
- Strong technical understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance and workshop operations.
- Proven experience managing multiple sites simultaneously.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with budget management experience.
- Experience managing customer contracts and operational service delivery.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
