Operations Manager

OPERATIONS MANAGER – CAPE TOWN

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy Cape Town facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of warehouse, stock control, receiving, production/repacking, dispatch, distribution, fleet and operational staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily operational activities.
• Oversee warehouse, receiving, picking, loading and dispatch operations.
• Maintain accurate stock control and investigate stock variances, losses and damages.
• Manage production/repacking activities where required.
• Ensure customer orders are picked, checked and dispatched accurately and on time.
• Oversee fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, servicing, fuel usage and driver compliance.
• Manage, supervise and allocate duties to operational staff.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, performance, overtime and labour utilisation.
• Ensure operational SOPs and company procedures are consistently followed.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, food safety and Health & Safety.
• Monitor equipment, forklifts and operational facilities and coordinate maintenance where required.
• Investigate operational problems, delivery discrepancies and customer complaints.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to operational processes.
• Liaise closely with Sales, Procurement, Finance, HR and Food Safety/Quality teams.
• Monitor operational KPIs and provide regular management reports.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager or similar senior operational role.
• Strong warehouse, stock control and distribution experience.
• Experience managing and supervising operational teams.
• Good understanding of receiving, dispatch and inventory control processes.
• Fleet management experience would be advantageous.
• Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, warehousing or distribution would be highly advantageous.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and planning ability.
• Computer literate with good administrative and reporting skills.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
• Strong focus on accuracy, accountability, productivity and continuous improvement.

Location: Cape Town

This position would suit a practical, highly organised Operations Manager who enjoys being actively involved in the operation and can confidently manage people, stock, warehouse activities, distribution and operational performance.
