Job description

Role purpose

The Mid Level Social Media and Paid Media Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management, growth and optimisation of the organisation's organic and paid social media channels. The role independently manages content calendars, develops platform appropriate content, supports paid media campaigns, engages online communities and uses performance data to improve brand visibility, engagement and lead generation.

Key responsibilities

1. Campaign and content management

  • Develop, curate and schedule monthly content calendars across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and X
  • Coordinate content around brand campaigns, product promotion, recruitment and operational communication requirements.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, approved, platform appropriate and aligned with the relevant brand voice and marketing calendar.

2. Content creation

  • Write clear, engaging captions, short form copy, headlines and calls to action.
  • Develop or adapt static graphics, carousels, short form videos, Reels and TikTok content using approved brand guidelines.
  • Assist with scripting, capturing and editing social first content when required.
  • Brief internal designers, copywriters and video team members, and review supplied assets before publication.

3. Paid social media support

  • Set up, monitor and optimise paid social campaigns in Meta Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, with exposure to TikTok Ads where relevant.
  • Support campaign targeting, budget pacing, creative rotation and lead generation objectives under the direction of the Marketing Manager.
  • Run basic A B tests across copy, creative formats, calls to action and audience segments, and recommend improvements based on results.
  • Check campaign links, tracking parameters and conversion events before campaigns go live.

4. Community management and social listening

  • Monitor social media channels daily and respond to comments, direct messages and enquiries in a professional, customer focused manner.
  • Identify relevant conversations, emerging trends and opportunities for proactive engagement.
  • Escalate sensitive service issues, misinformation, reputational risks or operational concerns through the correct internal channels.
  • Maintain accurate response records and follow agreed community management guidelines.

5. Reporting and optimisation

  • Track reach, engagement, follower growth, click through rates, cost per result, lead volumes and other agreed campaign measures.
  • Prepare clear weekly and monthly performance reports using platform analytics and Google Analytics 4 where applicable.
  • Translate performance trends into practical recommendations for content, targeting, timing and creative improvements.
  • Maintain organised campaign records, reports and content archives.

6. Collaboration and coordination

  • Work closely with the broader marketing, design, video, recruitment and operational teams to gather information and deliver content on time.
  • Coordinate approvals and ensure only approved content is published.
  • Support agency partners and suppliers by providing accurate briefs, feedback and required campaign information.
  • Stay informed about platform changes, emerging formats and relevant social media trends.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Two to four years of professional experience managing social media accounts in a corporate or agency environment.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Advertising or a related field.
  • Hands on experience with Meta Business Suite and Meta Ads Manager. Experience with LinkedIn Campaign Manager and TikTok Ads is advantageous.
  • Experience using scheduling and reporting tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics 4 and campaign tracking. Exposure to Google Tag Manager is advantageous.
  • Strong copywriting, proofreading and storytelling skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to create and edit basic social media assets using Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Premiere Pro, CapCut or similar tools.
  • Ability to interpret performance data and turn findings into practical content and campaign improvements.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage several brands, deadlines and approval processes.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
