JOB PURPOSE

Rich Paints is looking for an experienced Paint Colour Matcher and Tinting Specialist.

The successful candidate will match paint colours accurately, prepare tinted paint orders, operate a manual tinting machine, and assist customers with colour and product selection.

This role requires strong colour knowledge, attention to detail, and good customer service skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in paint colour matching and paint tinting
• Ability to operate a manual paint tinting machine
• Ability to match colours using colour cards, physical samples, and customer references
• Knowledge of colour theory and colour mixing
• Knowledge of paint products, finishes, bases, and colourants
• Ability to calculate and record colour formulations accurately
• Basic sales and customer service experience
• Ability to work under pressure and meet customer deadlines
• Previous experience in a paint shop, hardware store, or paint manufacturing environment will be an advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Match paint colours according to customer samples and requirements
• Operate the manual tinting machine safely and accurately
• Measure and dispense colourants according to approved formulations
• Adjust colours until the required shade is achieved
• Prepare test samples before tinting full paint quantities
• Keep accurate records of colour formulas for repeat orders
• Check tinted paint before handing it over to the customer
• Assist customers with colour selection, paint finishes, and product recommendations
• Explain the difference between pastel, deep, and clear bases
• Support the sales team with technical paint and colour advice
• Maintain cleanliness in the tinting and colour-matching area
• Clean tinting equipment, tools, and containers after use
• Monitor colourant stock and report shortages
• Ensure colourants and paint bases are stored correctly
• Reduce colour-matching errors, wastage, and customer returns
• Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures

Pay: R6 532,04 - R12 000,00 per month
