Job Title
Paint Shop Assistant
Purpose of the Role
The Paint Shop Assistant supports the spray painter and paint department by preparing materials, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, assisting with vehicle preparation, and ensuring the efficient flow of work through the paint shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles and components for painting by cleaning, masking, sanding, and degreasing surfaces.
- Mix and prepare paints and related materials under the guidance of qualified spray painters.
- Assist with moving parts into and out of the spray booth.
- Clean spray guns, mixing equipment, and other paint shop tools after use.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the paint shop, mixing room, and spray booths.
- Ensure all materials, consumables, and equipment are stocked and readily available.
- Assist with polishing, denibbing, and final finishing of painted vehicles where required.
- Report damaged equipment, shortages, or safety concerns to the work Shop Manager.
- Follow workshop procedures, quality standards, and manufacturer specifications.
- Wear and maintain the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support other workshop departments when requested by management.

- Physically fit and capable of handling workshop duties.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 or Matric (preferred).
- Previous experience in an automotive paint shop is essential.
- Valid driver's licence is beneficial.
- Willingness to learn and develop within the automotive refinishing industry.
- Reporting To Paint Shop Manager / Workshop Manager
Working Conditions
- Automotive panel beating and refinishing workshop.
- Exposure to paint products, chemicals, dust, and workshop noise.
- PPE must be worn at all times in designated work areas.
Pay: R2 000,00 - R3 000,00 per week
