Part-Time Academic Tutor & Homework Club Facilitator: Grades 1–7

We are looking for a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic Part-Time Tutor to provide academic support to Grades 1–7 learners in both private one-on-one sessions and small group settings. The successful candidate will also assist with our afternoon Homework Club, helping learners complete homework, prepare for assessments and strengthen their overall academic skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide CAPS-aligned tutoring and academic support to learners in Grades 1–7.
• Conduct one-on-one private tutoring sessions as well as small group sessions.
• Assist learners with daily homework, assignments, projects and test preparation.
• Support learners in the following subjects:
• English
• Mathematics
• IsiZulu
• Life Skills / Life Orientation
• Social Sciences
• Natural Sciences
• Technology
• Reading and comprehension skills
• Support younger learners with foundational literacy and numeracy skills where required.
• Help learners improve their reading, comprehension, spelling, writing, study and problem-solving skills.
• Identify areas where learners need additional academic support and assist them accordingly.
• Prepare or source suitable learning activities and additional practice where necessary.
• Maintain a structured, positive and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor learners' academic progress.
• Communicate professionally regarding learner progress where required.
• Assist with basic administrative and computer-based tasks related to tutoring and learner support.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should:

• Have a strong understanding of the South African CAPS curriculum for Grades 1–7.
• Be confident tutoring learners across Foundation, Intermediate and Grade 7 level.
• Be confident tutoring multiple school subjects.
• Have strong English communication skills.
• Be able to assist learners with IsiZulu.
• Be comfortable working with children of different ages, learning styles and academic abilities.
• Be able to tutor both individual learners and small groups.
• Be patient, organised, reliable and passionate about education.
• Have good classroom and learner-management skills.
• Be computer literate and confident using computers for educational and administrative purposes.
• Be able to use Microsoft Office, Google applications and online educational resources.
• Be able to work independently and take initiative.
• Have reliable transport to and from work.

Previous tutoring, teaching, classroom or homework-support experience will be advantageous. A teaching qualification, education-related qualification or current studies towards a teaching qualification will also be advantageous.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday
12:00 to 18:00

Salary:

R8,000 per month
