Part-Time Academic Tutor:Grades 4–9

We are looking for an experienced, reliable and confident Part-Time Academic Tutor to provide academic support to learners in Grades 4–9.

The successful candidate must have previous experience teaching or tutoring the required subjects and must be comfortable working with both individual learners and small groups. This role will also include assisting with our Homework Club when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide CAPS-aligned tutoring to learners in Grades 4–9.
• Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions as well as small group sessions.
• Tutor learners in the following subjects:
• English
• Afrikaans
• Mathematics
• Social Sciences
• Natural Sciences
• Economic and Management Sciences (EMS)
• Assist learners with homework, assignments, projects, revision and test preparation.
• Help learners strengthen their subject knowledge and improve areas where they may be struggling.
• Prepare additional activities, worksheets or revision material where necessary.
• Assist with Homework Club when required.
• Maintain a structured, supportive and productive learning environment.
• Monitor learner progress and identify areas requiring additional support.
• Communicate professionally regarding learner progress where required.
• Encourage good study habits, organisation and independent learning.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must:

• Have previous teaching or tutoring experience in the subjects listed above.
• Be confident tutoring learners from Grades 4–9.
• Have a good understanding of the South African CAPS curriculum.
• Be able to tutor both individual learners and small groups.
• Be confident teaching English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and EMS.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be patient, organised, dependable and professional.
• Have good learner and classroom management skills.
• Be computer literate and comfortable using technology and online educational resources.
• Be able to work independently and take initiative.
• Have reliable transport to and from work.

Important:

Previous experience teaching or tutoring the subjects listed above is a non-negotiable requirement.

A teaching qualification, education-related qualification or current studies towards a teaching qualification will be advantageous.

Monday to Friday
12:00 to 18:00

Salary:

R8,000 per month
