PART-TIME ESL ENGLISH TUTOR WANTED
The Wordsmith Academy is seeking a passionate, professional, and student-focused English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor to join our growing team in Cape Town City Centre.
Position
Part-Time ESL English Tutor
Salary & Benefits
- R12,000 per month
- Additional performance-based bonuses awarded for professionalism, reliability, initiative, student satisfaction, and overall contribution to the academy.
- No weekend work.
- No public holiday work.
Working Hours
- Maximum of 4 teaching hours per day
- Flexible part-time schedule
About The Role
The Wordsmith Academy specializes in helping English language learners improve their fluency, confidence, and communication skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
As an ESL Tutor, you will be responsible for facilitating small-group classes of approximately four students per class. Lessons are primarily conversational in nature and focus on helping students develop practical English communication skills through guided speaking activities, discussions, role-plays, and fluency-building exercises.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate and manage small classes of approximately four students.
- Conduct conversational English lessons designed to improve fluency and confidence.
- Lead speaking activities, discussions, role-plays, and interactive exercises.
- Encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure students remain engaged and motivated throughout lessons.
- Maintain professionalism and uphold the standards of The Wordsmith Academy.
- Complete basic lesson preparation and administrative tasks when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 1.5–2 years of experience teaching or tutoring English as a Second Language (ESL).
- A Diploma or higher qualification in:
- Linguistics
- Education/Teaching
- English Language Studies
- TESOL/TEFL
- Applied Linguistics
- Or a related field.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to confidently manage small-group classes.
- Passion for language education and student development.
- Professional, punctual, and dependable.
