Job description
Optimal® is an Asset Lifecycle Performance Implementation Partner. Headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, with offices in South Africa and Namibia, we help asset-intensive operators in mining, energy, utilities and heavy industry secure safer, more reliable and lower-cost performance from their physical assets. We combine engineering discipline with structured, evidence-based learning to build the skills our clients depend on. We are ISO 9001:2015 accredited through Bureau Veritas.
The opportunity

This is a simplified, facilitation-led role: we provide the structured curriculum, materials and subject-matter backing; you bring the craft of adult learning and enough hands-on grounding to make the content real. It suits a capable trainer or facilitator with working exposure to maintenance planning who enjoys developing others.
Role overview
You will facilitate the technical teaching modules of the programme - the work management process, planning and scheduling techniques, maintenance computer systems, and master-data practices delivering them online or in hybrid mode to working professionals from a range of industries. Your task is to bring the prescribed curriculum to life, guide learners through practical exercises and assess their progress against the programme outcomes. You will work within a supportive Optimal team that maintains the content and stands behind you on subject matter.

Practical skill modules

- Scope and plan for the identified work request(s) – assessing the scope of work to determine the resources required and the task duration through the notification management process.
- Call maintenance schedule (automatic or manual call) – releasing the maintenance schedule to execute preventive and predictive maintenance work.
- Schedule activities per agreed time-table / calendar / frequency – synchronising tasks against available resources.
- Monitor the implementation and execution of the plan – checking compliance against the plan and recording deviations.
- Update systems – controlling the maintenance activities carried out, updating systems and reporting on key performance indicators.
- Analyse feedback related to work orders / job cards – measuring the efficiency, completion and utilisation status of work orders.
- Update master data – creating and updating master data to keep an accurate master-data bank across the work management process.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate the technical modules of the Maintenance Planner SLP online or in hybrid mode, following the prescribed curriculum and NQF Level 5 outcomes.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the content and delivery methodology.
Required experience and skills
