Part-Time Refrigeration Bench Technician

About the Role

We are a local vending machine business looking for an experienced Refrigeration Technician for consistent, ad-hoc bench work at our warehouse in the Consani Industrial Park. This is an ideal setup for a reliable, qualified technician looking for flexible, ongoing income without the hassle of field call-outs or carrying personal overhead.

​You will be refurbishing and repairing modular drop-in cooler units pulled from our vending machines. The equipment primarily consists of commercial R134a 1/3 HP compressors (with occasional larger or smaller variants), as well as some domestic compressors.

​The volume of work is consistent: expect to be needed about 1 to 2 times per week during summer, and around 3 times a month during winter.

​Key Responsibilities

• ​Fault finding and diagnosis: Assessing the unit when it arrives on the bench to determine the exact issue before starting work.
• ​Leak finding, brazing, clearing blockages, vacuuming, and re-gassing.
• ​Compressor replacements and minor electrical work (such as fan replacements).
• ​General unit refurbishment, including cleaning the unit thoroughly and carefully straightening fins.
• ​Workspace maintenance: You are strictly required to clean the bench and pack away all tools after every job is completed.
• ​Executing any other standard refrigeration tasks required to return the unit to fully operational condition.

​The Setup & Working Environment

• ​Strictly Bench Work: No traveling between sites, no call-outs, and no field diagnosis. We pull the units and bring them directly to the bench.
• ​Zero Overhead: We provide a fully kitted-out refrigeration workstation. All tools, vacuum pumps, brazing equipment, gas, and consumables are supplied by us.
• ​Working Hours: Standard access is available during regular weekday hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. After-hours, weekend, or public holiday work can easily be accommodated, provided it is pre-scheduled with management to ensure someone is on-site to oversee the workshop.

​Requirements

• ​Proven, hands-on experience in commercial and domestic refrigeration, specifically working with R134a systems.
• ​Strong diagnostic skills to accurately fault-find on the bench.
• ​Ability to work efficiently and independently.
• ​Reliable, professional, and highly respectful of the provided workspace and equipment.

​Compensation

• ​Because we cover all tools, gas, and consumables, your earnings are pure take-home pay.
