Pastry Chef

Brown Sugar Oceans is seeking a passionate and creative Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. If you have a flair for crafting exceptional desserts, pastries, cakes, and artisanal baked goods, and thrive in a fast-paced, premium dining environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a wide range of high-quality pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and baked goods.
• Develop innovative dessert menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
• Maintain consistency in quality, taste, and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, wastage, and cost control within the pastry section.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient pastry kitchen.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2–5 years' experience as a Pastry Chef in a reputable restaurant, hotel, or bakery.
• Relevant Culinary or Patisserie Qualification (NQF Level 4/5, Diploma or Certificate in Pastry and Baking) will be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert presentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and creativity.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
