Job description

As part of our ongoing recruitment efforts, Trafalgar Property Management is looking for an organised, detail-oriented and service-driven Payroll and HR Administrator to join our Cape Town team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has built a solid foundation in payroll and HR administration and is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and professional environment. Reporting to the Regional HR Manager, the successful candidate will provide administrative support across the payroll and HR functions, ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining employee records, supporting recruitment and employee relations, and ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation and statutory payroll requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Processing monthly payroll accurately and within prescribed deadlines
  • Capturing and maintaining payroll information and employee records
  • Administering Body Corporate employee leave, overtime and payroll processes
  • Responding to payroll and HR related queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Preparing employment contracts, appointment letters and other HR documentation
  • Assisting with recruitment administration, including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews and onboarding new employees
  • Providing administrative support with disciplinary, warning and employee relations processes
  • Preparing and submitting statutory payroll returns, including:
    • EMP201
    • EMP501
    • IRP5 and IT3(a)
    • WCA returns and related submissions
  • Reconciling third-party payroll payments, including SARS, UIF, SDL, garnishee orders and employee benefits
  • Producing payroll reports and assisting with payroll and HR data analysis
  • Maintaining accurate employee records for audit and compliance purposes
  • Ensuring compliance with the BCEA, LRA, EEA, WCA, SARS requirements and company policies
  • Providing administrative support to the HR Manager and management team as required

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Payroll or a related field

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years' practical experience in payroll and HR administration
  • Practical experience processing payroll from start to finish
  • Experience with SARS submissions, including EMP201, EMP501 and IRP5s
  • Experience with WCA administration and submissions
  • Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation and payroll compliance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
  • Experience working on payroll and HR systems
