People Operations & Payroll Coordinator (Part-Time)
Location: Pinetown, Durban
Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (25 hours per week)
ROLE
We're looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused professional to help keep our business running smoothly behind the scenes.
This role combines Human Resources, Payroll and People Operations. Rather than simply processing paperwork, you'll help create structure, support our managers, ensure payroll runs accurately and contribute towards building a workplace where people feel safe, supported and able to grow.
As a growing multi-branch business, we are looking for someone who enjoys improving processes, creating consistency and working collaboratively with both employees and leadership.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
People & Culture Responsibilities
Employee Experience
- Champion and protect the Autolectronix culture.
- Promote employee wellbeing and engagement.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
- Coach managers on creating psychologically safe, high-performing teams.
- Encourage open, respectful communication throughout the business.
- Help identify and resolve cultural issues before they become larger problems.
- Coordinate employee feedback initiatives and engagement surveys.
- Celebrate successes and recognise employee achievements.
Learning & Development
- Coordinate internal and external training.
- Schedule workshops and development sessions.
- Ensure employees receive role-specific and compliance training.
- Assist managers with individual development plans.
Company Events & Employee Recognition
- Plan annual team-building yearly retreat.
- Organise Christmas functions or special events.
- Support employee wellness initiatives and special events.
Policies & Compliance
- Maintain, Develope and continuously improve company SOP's and ensure staff are up to date on all current SOP's in place.
- Ensure policies remain legally compliant and aligned with company values.
- Coordinate policy roll-outs.
- Deliver policy training and refresher sessions.
- Maintain signed contracts, acknowledgements, compliance records and hardcopies in a secure locked HR filing cabinet.
People Operations
- Coordinate the full employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding.
- Prepare employment contracts and HR documentation.
- Maintain employee records and HR systems.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes.
- Track probation reviews, one-to-one meetings and performance appraisals.
- Support managers with HR processes and documentation.
- Maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate training records and employee development.
- Ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA, POPIA and company policies.
Payroll Coordination
- Coordinate monthly payroll preparation.
- Process leave, overtime, allowances and deductions.
- Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations.
- Process new employees onboarding and termination offboarding.
- Liaise with Finance regarding payroll journals.
- Assist with EMP201, EMP501 and IRP5 submissions.
- Resolve payroll queries.
Recruitment Support
- Coordinate recruitment administration.
- Schedule interviews.
- Liase with recruitment agents
- Prepare offer documentation.
- Coordinate onboarding.

Essential Requirements
- 3+ years' HR and payroll experience.
- Experience processing payroll.
- Strong understanding of South African labour legislation.
- Strong organisational and administration skills
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally.
Advantageous
- Worked with Odoo before
- HR or Payroll qualification.
- Experience within a growing SME.
- Multi-branch experience.
Working Hours
Approximately 25 hours per week (8:00 - 13:00) with flexibility during payroll week or busy recruitment periods.
Pay: R12 000,00 - R18 000,00 per month
Work Location: In person
