Job description
Job Purpose
Department of Police Oversight & Community Safety, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render a secretarial support service to a senior manager(s). The successful incumbent must be willing to travel when required.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification) plus an accredited secretarial diploma and/or administrative qualification on the level of NQF level 5 or relevant higher tertiary qualification; A minimum of 3 years experience in rendering secretarial/ administrative support services to management/ senior management.

Key Performance Areas
Provide a secretarial/receptionist support service to the manager; Render administrative support services to the manager; Provide support to the senior manager regarding meetings; Support the manager with the administration of the manager’s budget; Study the relevant Public Service and departmental prescripts/ policies and other documents and ensure that the application thereof is understood properly.
Competencies
Knowledge of the following: Filing and diary system; Database administration; Financial administration; Legislative framework governing the public service; OHS Act and procedures. Skills in the following: Good telephone etiquette; Computer Literacy; Language skills; Sound organisational skills; Good people skills; High level of reliability; Written communication skills; Ability to act with tact and discretion; Information gathering and analysis of information; Good grooming and presentation; Self- management and motivation; Typing and preparing legal correspondence and relevant documentation; Basic conceptual, interpretive and formulation skills.
Remuneration
R 338 106 – R 398 277 per annum (Salary level 7)
Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
