Personal Chef / House Manager

Beautiful Residence in Mooikloof, Pretoria is seeking a Private Chef / House Manager

We are looking for a reliable, organised, and caring Personal Chef / House Manager to join a private household on a full-time, live-out basis.

This role would suit someone who enjoys creating delicious, well-balanced meals while also taking pride in ensuring that a home is organised, well managed, and running smoothly.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Personal Chef Duties

• Plan and prepare daily meals according to the household’s preferences and dietary requirements.
• Prepare healthy, fresh, and well-presented meals.
• Develop weekly menus in consultation with the household.
• Purchase groceries and household supplies.
• Monitor food stock and ensure that the kitchen remains well organised.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
• Prepare meals for occasional guests or small family gatherings.
• Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests where required.

House Management Duties

• Oversee the general organisation and smooth running of the household.
• Coordinate household cleaning, laundry, maintenance, and other domestic requirements.
• Manage household stock, supplies, and shopping lists.
• Liaise with service providers, contractors, and suppliers when required.
• Assist with household errands and appointments.
• Ensure that household tasks and maintenance matters are followed up and completed.
• Maintain a neat, welcoming, and well-organised home environment.
• Provide practical support to the household as needs arise.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should:

• Have previous experience as a personal chef, private chef, house manager, or in a similar household role.
• Be confident in preparing a variety of healthy meals.
• Be confident in cooking with fresh, raw ingredients from scratch.
• Experience in cooking authentic Chinese cuisine could be an advantage.
• Have good menu-planning and grocery-management skills.
• Be organised, responsible, and able to work independently.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be trustworthy, discreet, and respectful of the household’s privacy.
• Be flexible and willing to assist with different household responsibilities.
• Have a valid driver’s licence and reliable transport - Essential
• Be able to provide contactable references.
• Have a clear criminal record.

Formal culinary training would be advantageous but is not essential where the candidate has suitable experience and strong cooking skills.
