Pharmacist

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To provide a comprehensive, professional, and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public, in full compliance with applicable legislation, SAPC regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances to stores and the public Ensure accurate dispensing Ensure efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances Deliver a safe and efficient medication service Provide an outpatient pharmacy service Required Education ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B Pharm / B Sc Pharm / Dip Pharm

• Relevant Pharmacy legislation (e.g. Pharmacy Act, Good Pharmacy Practices; Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965)
• Knowledge of the pharmacy and related healthcare industry
• Ethical and surgical product knowledge
• Financial Management
• Ethical stock control practices and principles
• Knowledge and experience working with relevant pharmacy systems (e.g. UNISOLV, AS400 & SAP)
• Training and mentoring
• Medical Aid Scheme benefits, regulations and formularies
• Pharmacology, including Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardships
