Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Phlebotomist role based in Manenberg in the City of Cape Town. They will be needed on three days out of the week. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing blood collection procedures, including venipuncture and capillary draws, in accordance with established protocols. Day-to-day tasks include verifying patient identity, explaining procedures, preparing collection equipment, labeling and handling specimens, and ensuring proper documentation. The role involves collaborating with laboratory staff and healthcare providers, maintaining a clean and organized work area, following infection control and safety standards, and providing a calm, professional experience for patients of all ages.

Qualifications

• Strong laboratory skills, including specimen handling, labeling, and basic processing.
• Proficiency in blood collection techniques and safe phlebotomy practices.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and general principles of medicine relevant to laboratory testing.
• Experience or training in medical assisting, including patient interaction and administrative support in a clinical setting.
• Relevant certification or diploma in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistance, with registration where applicable.
• Demonstrated commitment to infection control, safety protocols, and quality assurance standards.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse clinical environment.
• Ability to work on-site full time, manage multiple tasks, and maintain accuracy under time constraints.
