Job description
We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented, and organised Phlebotomist to join our Clinical Research Team.

In this role, you'll get hands-on with:
• Performing phlebotomy and collecting blood, urine, and other specimens according to study protocols
• Processing, labelling, storing, and preparing specimens for shipment
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records, logs, and research documentation
• Supporting quality assurance (QA/QC) and laboratory compliance processes
• Managing laboratory stock, kits, and specimen supplies
• Coordinating laboratory results and ensuring timely follow-up with investigators and laboratories
• Assisting with monitoring visit preparation and implementing process improvements
We're looking for someone who:
• Has excellent phlebotomy and specimen handling skills
• Pays exceptional attention to detail and maintains accurate documentation
• Communicates professionally with participants, laboratories, and clinical staff
• Can prioritise multiple tasks while meeting strict timelines
• Has sound knowledge of infection prevention, biosafety, and laboratory procedures
• Is solutions-driven and committed to maintaining high-quality standards
• Is comfortable using Microsoft Office and electronic laboratory or research systems
Qualifications & Experience
• National Certificate in Phlebotomy or qualification as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a phlebotomist or General Nurse.
• 1–2 years' experience in a Clinical, laboratory, or research environment .
• Experience with venipuncture, specimen processing, labelling, storage, and courier coordination
Advantageous:
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Research Ethics training
• Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) certification
• Training in research specimen handling, processing, and shipping
• IATA Certification
• Previous clinical research or clinical trial experience
• Knowledge of laboratory quality control procedures
