Planner, Capacity

Location: Midrand, South Africa

At dsm-firmenich, Midrand, South Africa, we are looking for a Capacity Planner for our Taste business.

In this role, you will plan all aspects of production in collaboration with the production team, to make sure that we have the right level of finished goods inventory and manning at the right time to satisfy customer requirements for products. Production Planner whose mission will be to plan all aspects of short term (0-3 months) production in support of the order fulfilment process. This includes planning production of finished goods and balancing capacity, materials and inventory to meet customer’s needs.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Perform daily production schedules in accordance with the required batch size, available capacity, quality standard sequencing and Raw Materials.
  • Ensure a balanced Production Plan to Production teams (correct load, correct PV, correct BOM, correct sequencing and tonality…)
  • Ensure balanced plan, monitoring non-confirmed Sales Orders and MRP traffic-lights (SAP MD07 or APO Alerts) screening, keeping adherence to Planning Parameters
  • Ensure non-confirmed sales Orders are confirmed and planned within 48 hours of receipt of sales order, ensuring that OTIF date is met.
  • Ensure good quality planned orders are released timeously and monitor Process Orders
  • Review of order status with Supply Chain stakeholders (Production, QC, Internal logistics.)
  • Confirm and ensure a proper follow-up of customer orders until departure, including Reason Code maintenance and batch strategy compliance
  • Proactively inform customer experience teams if any issues on orders
  • Properly applies planning parameters and suggests changes or improvements to parameters as required
  • Participates to Operations projects as required
  • Partner with Production Team to check planning adherence.
  • First level of order escalation process
  • Participate in various meetings and Supply Chain projects as needed.
  • Escalate needed ad hoc planning parameters adjustments and support periodical planning parameters reviews.
  • Keep inventory level under budget directives while maximizing service.
  • Contributes to inventory quality and accuracy (Remaining Shelf-Life Review Sensitive Items, half -bag reworks, support recycling or inventory sharing, when possible, request physical inventory checks when needed.

You bring:

  • Degree in Engineer, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, mathematics or Economics
  • 2-3 years of production scheduling planning experience preferred and Production Process knowledge
  • Contribute to team success, quality orientation and continuous improvement
  • Computer skills: SAP ECC, SAP APO or equivalent and MS office proficiency
  • APICS Basics, CPIM or DDI (DDMRP) DDPP Certified a Plus
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively. Ability to manage and meet deadlines and multi-task daily activities.
  • Strong communication, partnership and influencing skills in English. Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work and collaborate under stress.
  • Highly analytical and able to make decisions within defined parameters.
  • Detailed understanding of how a supply plan is generated and managed.
  • Experience in standardizing processes
