PORTER - CITY HOSPITAL

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provide a porter service for all hospital departments. Provide efficient and courteous service to patients, visitors, consultants, and staff.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Welcoming all visitors at the Hospital Front Hall.
• Guide and direct customers to the relevant department.
• Transport patients to the wards for admission.
• Ensure that the correct patient is taken to the correct ward.
• Demonstrates professional ethics, values and caring standards.
• Actively contributes to the organizations' culture of patient safety.
• Ensures a clean and safe environment that minimizes risks to patient.
• Demonstrates the ability to inform the unit supervisor of all admissions and concerns regarding the patients' condition.
• To ensure that the necessary transport arrangements are made as required for patients.
• Ensure timeous, complete and accurate documentation of patient information.
• All patient information /patient files must be kept out of public view to maintain confidentiality.
• Provide admin support and relief to administration staff during breaks and busy periods.

Minimum Requirements

• Must possess a Grade 12 Certificate.
• Experience in a customer care environment.
• Be prepared to do shiftwork.

• Physically fit and able to assist with patient transportation.
