Requirements

• Relevant Tertiary Qualification preferably in Engineering

(B.Eng / B.Sc.(Eng) / B Tech in Electrical Engineering)

• Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng)

or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng).

• 8 years or more relevant experience, post first relevant

tertiary qualification.

• Relevant SCADA field services experience including

experience in the testing and maintenance of RTU’s and

communication devices.

• Managerial experience.
• Project and Financial management.
• A high degree of computer literacy.
• Driver's license: Code B/EB.

Key Performance Areas

• Investigating, analysing and implementation of new RTU

technologies and their application within the SCADA

outstation and HV/MV network environment.

• Communicating and interacting on a regular basis with

Protection Projects & Design and Protection Field Services

regarding the design, implementation and commissioning

of new SCADA technologies including RTU specifications and

applications.

• Performing preventative and defect maintenance of the

SCADA, RTU, power supplies and communication

infrastructure installed base.

• Analysing system performance and determining what changes

are required to improve system response times and

communication throughput.

• Monitoring contractor performance against agreed terms

and conditions through ongoing interaction with site personnel,

on-site inspections, regular site meetings and alerting the

contractor to any acts of non-conformance.

• Ensuring contractors comply with all aspects of the

Construction Safety Regulations and the Occupational Health

and Safety Act through regular site inspections, enforcement

of safety plans and record keeping of all non-compliances.
