Principal Provincial Inspector: Law Enforcement Operations, Ref No. WCMD 93/2025 R1

Job Purpose

The Western Cape Mobility Department, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for two suitably qualified and competent individuals to manage the promotion of road safety through effective and efficient law enforcement in the Province of the Western Cape by effective leadership and supervision of subordinates. The successful incumbent must be able to work under pressure, willingness to work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (equivalent or higher qualification); Must be in possession of a Basic Traffic Diploma; A minimum of 6 years experience in the field; A valid code A and EC driving licence; No Criminal record.

Key Performance Areas

Manage and enforce Road Traffic, Public Passenger, Transport Legislation and other relevant legislations; Manage joint law enforcement activities and projects (co-operative governance); Manage resources and provide leadership and direction to all subordinates; Identify and manage risks; Manage the performance of all administrative activities and related duties; Supevisory functions.

Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Operational functioning of the Directorate Traffic Law Enforcement; National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996); Road Traffic Amendment Act, 2008 (Act 64 of 2008); Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act 60 of 2000); Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act 51 of 1977); Firearms Control Regulations, 2004; National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000; Dimensional and Mass Limitations and the Requirements for Abnormal Load Vehicles (TRH 11); Guidelines from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Remuneration

R 397 116 - R 467 790 per annum (Salary level 8)
