Job description
Rubicon's Sustainable Technology Division is scaling fast, and we're looking for an experienced Principal Sales Consultant to own our Lighting portfolio in the Western Cape. This isn't a role for someone who wants to be managed step by step. It's for someone who wants the autonomy to build their own pipeline, run their own client relationships, and get paid properly for the results they deliver.
This Role Is Built For People Who
- Want to operate with real autonomy, not a script
- Are motivated by uncapped earning potential, not a ceiling
- Thrive in a flexible environment and manage their own time and territory
- Bring a dynamic, open-minded, solutions-first approach to every deal
- Sell with a winning mindset — competitive, resilient, and hungry for the close
What You'll Own
- The lighting sales strategy across commercial, industrial, and residential markets — new build, industrial projects, and retrofits
- A self-built pipeline of architects, engineers, consultants, property managers, and contractors
- Full-cycle deals — from site assessment and technical guidance, through proposals and ROI-driven financial models, to tender responses and contract close
- Key account relationships, with the discipline to keep them growing long after the first sale
- Your own numbers — monthly, quarterly, and annual targets you're accountable for, not chased for
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of proven external sales success in lighting or a closely related technical/B2B environment
- A track record of managing complex sales cycles and consistently hitting targets — not just some of the time
- Real knowledge of commercial/industrial lighting systems, energy efficiency standards, and project bid processes
- The ability to talk technical detail with an engineer and ROI with a CFO, in the same day
- Your own vehicle, a valid licence, and no hesitation about being on the road and in front of clients
- An entrepreneurial streak — you see this as your territory to build, not a job to show up for
Why This Role This is a senior seat with real autonomy and real upside — you'll shape go-to-market strategy for lighting in your region, not just execute someone else's plan. If you want a ceiling on your income and someone checking your diary every day, this isn't it. If you want to build something and be paid what you're worth for it, let's talk.
