Principal Solution & Enablement Consultant - HR & Payroll

As a Solutions Consultant – Sage Payroll, you'll play a pivotal role in our sales success by partnering with Sales teams, Business Partners, and customers to showcase the power of Sage Payroll solutions. Acting as a trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle, you'll uncover customer needs, design tailored solutions, deliver impactful demonstrations, and confidently address technical and functional requirements that enable customers to make informed business decisions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a consultative professional who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, payroll, and business transformation.

Location - 3 days per week out of our Johannesburg office.

Key Responsibilities What you'll be responsible for:

• Partner with Corporate Sales and Channel Sales teams to identify customer challenges and position the most appropriate Sage Payroll solution.

• Conduct discovery workshops to understand customer business processes, payroll requirements, and strategic objectives.

• Design and deliver engaging, customer-focused product demonstrations, Proof of Concepts (POCs), workshops, and executive presentations.

• Translate complex business requirements into practical Sage Payroll solution recommendations that deliver measurable business value.

• Build confidence in Sage Payroll's functionality, technology, and architecture while effectively addressing technical and functional objections throughout the sales cycle.

• Present solution value to stakeholders ranging from payroll practitioners and HR professionals through to senior executives and C-suite decision makers.

• Lead the technical response for Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and other customer documentation.

• Create and maintain high-quality demonstration environments, industry-specific scenarios, and presales assets that support successful customer engagements.

• Collaborate with Sales to develop compelling proposals, solution documentation, and customer presentations.

• Provide valuable market feedback to Product Management and Development teams to influence future product enhancements.

• Work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and Professional Services teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.

• Support Business Partners with technical enablement and solution positioning where required.

• Contribute to achieving quarterly and annual sales objectives by helping accelerate sales cycles, increasing deal value, and improving win rates.

• Stay current with industry trends, payroll legislation, cloud technologies, and competitive market developments.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone who combines strong payroll expertise with excellent communication and consultative solution-selling skills.

Essential

• 4+ years' experience in a Presales, Solutions Consulting, Implementation Consulting, or Customer Support role supporting payroll, HR, finance, or business software solutions.

• Strong knowledge of payroll principles, payroll legislation, and payroll business processes.

• Experience delivering software demonstrations and presenting business solutions to customers.

• Good understanding of SaaS applications, cloud technologies, enterprise software, APIs, XML, web services, and systems integration concepts.

• Proven ability to support successful sales engagements, increase deal value, shorten sales cycles, and contribute towards revenue targets.

• Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to translate customer business needs into effective technical solutions.

• Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership teams.

• Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

• Willingness to travel to customer and Business Partner sites when required.

• Experience working with Sage Payroll or other enterprise Payroll and HR software solutions.

• Knowledge of enterprise architecture and software integration best practices.

• Experience supporting Channel Partners or reseller networks.

• Exposure to enterprise sales methodologies and complex sales cycles.
