Process Leader

Job Advert Summary

The Process Leader is responsible for overseeing manufacturing, processing, and/or packaging operations to ensure product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with company standards. The role involves monitoring production processes, maintaining equipment standards, and ensuring adherence to GMP, SOPs, and safety requirements. The Process Leader also manages, coaches, and develops employees to achieve departmental objectives.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• A relevant technical or manufacturing-related qualification will be advantageous, such as Food Technology, Food Science, Production/Operations Management, Food and Beverage
• Relevant technical training or certification in FMCG manufacturing, processing, packaging, GMP, or food safety will be advantageous.
• A minimum of 1–3 years of relevant experience in the FMCG industry, preferably in a manufacturing, processing, or packaging environment.
• Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role is essential.
• Fluency in Business English.
• Intermediate computer literacy.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Quality Assurance

• Apply quality assurance procedures to the manufacturing and/or packaging process to ensure product integrity and compliance with quality standards.
• Monitor and control inputs and outputs throughout the manufacturing and/or packaging process.
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S principles.

2. First-Line Maintenance and Inspections

• Conduct first-line maintenance and routine inspections of equipment.
• Ensure the correct and safe use of equipment and machinery.

3. Manufacturing and Processing

• Ensure that manufacturing and processing activities are performed in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure that Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) procedures are correctly implemented and completed.

4. Staff Management and Leadership

• Ensure the optimal utilisation of staff to achieve operational objectives.
• Apply disciplinary procedures consistently and fairly in line with company policies.
• Train, coach, and develop employees to improve their skills and performance.
• Conduct team meetings and ensure effective communication of relevant information to all team members.
• Liaise and communicate effectively with management and other departments to ensure operational alignment.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and on-the-job training to employees within the department.
• Set performance objectives, monitor progress, and evaluate team performance.
