Procurement Assistant

Cut-n-Weld Supplies (PTY) LTD is a leading importer and distributor of welding and cutting equipment, consumables, and industrial solutions throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. We are passionate about delivering quality products, technical expertise, and exceptional customer service to the fabrication and industrial sectors. We are seeking a mature, experienced Local Procurement / Operations Assistant to work closely with our Operations Director on all procurement-related matters. This role suits a seasoned procurement professional who brings maturity, sound judgement, and discretion to a position of trust within the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the Operations Director on all procurement-related tasks.
• Process purchase orders accurately and timeously.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations.
• Source products from approved local suppliers.
• Liaise with suppliers on pricing, stock availability, lead times, and deliveries.
• Monitor outstanding orders and supplier lead times.
• Assist with stock planning, replenishment, and warehouse coordination.
• Maintain procurement records, filing systems, and spreadsheets.
• Prepare procurement reports and assist with reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, approvals, and POPIA requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience within the procurement industry (non-negotiable).
• Maturity and sound judgement essential for this role.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Computer literate, with solid MS Office proficiency.
• Ability to work closely and confidentially with senior management.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Matric certificate (essential).

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Knowledge of the welding, industrial, engineering, or hardware sector.
• Experience with ERP or inventory systems (e.g. Netstock, CIN7, Xero).
• Previous experience supporting a director or senior executive.
