Job description
Job Purpose
To manage the sourcing, purchasing, and stock replenishment of liquor and FMCG products, ensuring cost-effective procurement, reliable supplier relationships, and consistent product availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers for liquor and FMCG stock
- Place and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and matching against sales/demand forecasts
- Monitor stock levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts and overstocking
- Build and maintain supplier relationships, evaluating performance on price, quality, and delivery reliability
- Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and invoices; flag discrepancies
- Maintain accurate procurement records (purchase orders, supplier contracts, pricing agreements)
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through bulk purchasing, supplier negotiation, or alternative sourcing
- Liaise with the finance team on invoice reconciliation and payment terms
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing and regulatory requirements related to product sourcing
- Coordinate with warehouse/logistics staff on stock receiving and storage
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12); a relevant diploma/degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Business Administration is an advantage
- 2+ years' experience in procurement, preferably in FMCG, liquor, or wholesale/retail distribution
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with stock/inventory or ERP systems advantageous
- Understanding of liquor trade is a plus
- Valid driver's license (if supplier/site visits are required)
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good communication skills for supplier and internal team liaison
