Procurement Officer

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to join our Supply Chain & Logistics team to ensure the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials required for the manufacturing and packing of medical devices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The position entails coordination, administration and collaboration associated with assessing material requirements, sourcing materials, identifying and managing suppliers, negotiating prices and terms, ordering, and inbound logistics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

· Material Requirement Planning (MRP) as part of the Production Planning Committee;

· Monitoring stock availability, open purchase orders, supplier lead times, expected deliveries and potential material shortages;

· Obtaining and evaluating quotations from approved or suitably vetted suppliers;

· Assessing suppliers and quotations based on quality, price, total landed cost, lead time, capacity, reliability, payment terms and supply risk;

· Negotiating commercial terms within the applicable authority and approval framework;

· Preparing and processing local and international purchase orders;

· Following up with suppliers to ensure that orders are dispatched and delivered within the required timeframes;

· Coordinating imported shipments with suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents and internal stakeholders;

· Monitoring shipping documentation, customs clearance, bonded movements and final delivery;

· Collaborating with Finance on landed-cost calculations, foreign-exchange forecasts, supplier payments and supply-related claims;

· Maintaining supplier records, approved-supplier information, price lists, lead times and procurement documentation;

· Collaborating with Quality team on supplier approval, evaluation, corrective-action and alternative-sourcing processes in collaboration;

· Monitoring supplier pricing, commodity movements, exchange-rate exposure, freight costs and other factors affecting material costs;

· Identifying opportunities to reduce costs, shorten lead times, improve material availability and strengthen procurement controls; and

· Ensuring compliance with procurement procedures, delegated authority, quality-system requirements, import and customs controls, and ethical business practices.

REQUIREMENTS

· Preferred: Qualification in procurement, supply chain management, logistics or a related field.

· Minimum: Senior Certificate (Matric)

· 5 years’ relevant procurement or buying experience in a manufacturing environment;

· Preferred: Experience in a medical-device or textile manufacturing environment;

· Sound understanding of supplier evaluation, quotation analysis, negotiation, purchase-order administration and total-cost assessment

· Practical experience with imports, freight forwarding, customs clearing, and landed-cost processes;

· Competent Microsoft Office skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel;

· Practical experience using an ERP or procurement system (e.g. SAP)

· Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication;

· Strong numerical and analytical ability;

· Excellent attention to detail;

· Sound commercial judgement and negotiation skills;

· Strong planning, organising and record-keeping abilities;

· Ability to identify risks and escalate concerns promptly; and

· Integrity, accountability and respect for compliance standards.

Pay: R27 250,00 - R36 680,00 per month
