Reporting Line: Manager: Procurement and Supplier Relationship Management
Job Purpose
Lesaka Merchant is looking for a Procurement Specialist: Stock, Services and Infrastructure to intelligently procure fintech stock, services, and infrastructure through the application of specialised procurement, supplier management, and commercial expertise.
This role is responsible for ensuring that stock, services, and infrastructure are procured in a manner that mitigates risk, supports operational continuity, enables technology and infrastructure requirements, and ensures compliance with all applicable specifications, standards, and lifecycle management requirements.
The successful candidate will balance cost effectiveness, supplier performance, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and innovation to support Lesaka's growth and customer experience objectives.
Key Responsibility Areas
Procurement Catalogue, Capacity Planning & Technician Delivery Schedules Enabled
- Develop a thorough understanding of procurement requirements through the Merchant Operations Division procurement catalogue.
- Analyse capacity plans, technician deployment schedules, historical purchasing trends, and business forecasts to develop structured procurement plans.
- Align procurement activities with budgets, cash flow requirements, and operational demand.
- Promote participation of BBBEE and enterprise development suppliers while maintaining risk controls.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives that ensure sustainable and reliable supply.
Strategic Sourcing, Negotiation & Cost Management
- Manage strategic sourcing initiatives across stock, services, and infrastructure categories.
- Evaluate suppliers against quality, scalability, integration capability, and service requirements.
- Analyse procurement spend and identify consolidation, optimisation, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Drive supplier negotiations and establish risk-reward commercial models.
- Develop long-term procurement forecasts in partnership with Product, Sales, and Field Services teams.
- Support supplier education and onboarding to ensure alignment with Lesaka procurement and payment processes.
- Manage supplier segmentation and supplier performance improvement initiatives.
Procurement & Cost Control Enabled
- Analyse spending patterns and identify maverick spend, cost leakage, and savings opportunities.
- Negotiate favourable pricing structures, payment terms, and volume discounts.
- Support the digitisation of procurement workflows, approvals, and purchase order processes.
- Implement approval frameworks aligned with procurement governance standards.
- Ensure contracts comply with PCI-DSS, data privacy, and security requirements.
- Maintain complete audit-ready procurement records and Procure-to-Pay documentation.
- Ensure procurement activities support service delivery and merchant experience objectives.
Compliance, Risk Mitigation & SLA Performance Enabled
- Monitor supplier performance and obtain feedback on stock, services, and infrastructure quality.
- Identify supplier-related risks and implement mitigation plans proactively.
- Ensure supplier engagements comply with Lesaka policies, legislation, and governance standards.
- Support business continuity through effective supplier risk and contract management.
- Escalate supplier performance concerns and SLA risks appropriately.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop strategic partnerships with key suppliers and service providers.
- Create opportunities for supplier innovation and collaborative growth.
- Influence new product developments through supplier engagement.
- Manage supplier relationships at operational, executive, and strategic levels.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understand and optimise the commercial impact of supplier contracts.
Stock, Services & Infrastructure Procurement
- Provide specialist procurement support for inventory, operational services, and infrastructure requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on inventory planning and supplier performance management.
- Support procurement activities relating to facilities, telecommunications, networking, vaults, data centres, and fintech infrastructure.
- Contribute to high-value contract negotiations and infrastructure procurement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, regulatory, and governance requirements.
- Provide guidance on capital expenditure projects and contract lifecycle management.
Stakeholder Management & Alignment
- Partner with business functions to understand procurement requirements and future demand.
- Participate in SLA discussions and supplier performance engagements.
- Support supplier performance management and corrective action plans.
- Ensure alignment between procurement activities and operational priorities.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and communication across procurement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum Experience
- 3–5 years' experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management, or related commercial functions.
- Experience within banking, fintech, payments, financial services, or similar fast-paced industries.
- Strong understanding of procurement governance, supplier management, and supply chain operations.
- Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at all organisational levels, including senior leadership.
Certifications (Advantageous)
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Valid Driver's Licence
