Job description
Product Owner
Full Stack (Pty) Ltd | Canal Walk, Cape Town | Contract Position
About Full Stack
At Full Stack, we're not just another dev shop—we're architects of digital transformation. For 11 years, we've been partnering with industry leaders to build software that matters. We believe quality software starts with quality architecture, rigorous processes, and exceptional people who understand that technology serves humans, not the other way around.
The Role
We're seeking a Product Owner who thrives at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution. You'll be working in-office at our Canal Walk location, serving as the critical bridge between client stakeholders and delivery teams. This isn't just backlog management—you'll shape product vision, make strategic prioritization decisions, and ensure every sprint delivers genuine business value while maintaining our human-centric approach to software development.
What You'll Do
- Own the product vision and roadmap for client engagements, translating business objectives into actionable development priorities - you will craft these in AI with our tools.
- Collaborate daily with clients, architects, developers, and testers following our "Rule of Two" team composition and SCRUM methodologies
- Manage the output of clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria that balance business needs with technical feasibility from our tooling.
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and review sessions with confidence and clarity
- Make real-time prioritization decisions during development, managing scope and stakeholder expectations
- Leverage AI tools to enhance documentation, generate user stories, and improve productivity
- Serve as the voice of the user—championing UX, accessibility, and the human factors that differentiate great software
- Work directly with C-level stakeholders and business leaders, presenting progress and facilitating difficult conversations
- Collaborate with Full Stack architects on functional and technical specifications that form the foundation of our projects
- Participate in pre-sales activities, helping shape proposals and contributing to client relationship development
What We Need From You
- 2+ years of professional Product Owner or Business Analyst experience in software development environments
- Deep understanding of SCRUM/Agile methodologies with proven track record of successful delivery
- Strong technical comprehension—you don't need to code, but you must understand architecture, APIs, databases, and technical trade-offs
- Demonstrated ability to write detailed specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria that development teams can action
- Proficiency with product management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar)
- Experience working in subscription-based development models or consultancy environments (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for using AI tools to enhance documentation and productivity
- Exceptional written and spoken English—you'll be authoring specifications, facilitating workshops, presenting to executives, and representing Full Stack in client relationships
- Genuinely outgoing and relationship-focused—you build trust across diverse stakeholders, facilitate difficult conversations, and create alignment between competing interests
- Commercial acumen—you understand cost, value, ROI, and can make business-driven prioritization decisions
- Passionate about delivering software that genuinely solves human problems, not just checking off feature lists
- Ability to work in-office at Canal Walk five days a week (client engagement requires presence)
What Sets You Apart
- Experience across multiple industries (financial services, logistics, retail, ESG, healthcare)
- Background managing products for enterprise clients with complex stakeholder landscapes
- Track record of successful digital transformation initiatives
- Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices
- Experience with ESG/GHG reporting systems, wellness platforms, or financial services products
- Domain expertise in one or more of Full Stack's key client sectors
Compensation
Salary dependent on experience level, industry expertise, and client management capability
Why Full Stack?
This isn't just another PO role—it's an opportunity to shape how South Africa's leading companies leverage technology for transformation. You'll work alongside shareholder-directors who are deeply involved in delivery, collaborate with architects who understand business context, and serve clients who view us as strategic partners, not just vendors.
Work on meaningful projects—from wellness platforms reaching millions to ESG systems driving corporate responsibility. You'll have the opportunity to work across diverse industries, building deep expertise while maintaining the human connections that make this work genuinely impactful.
We value transparency, treat our people with business empathy, and believe that the best software comes from teams who understand both the technical and human sides of the equation. If you believe technology should serve people—not the other way around—you'll fit right in.
