Production Shift Boss

Minimum Requirements

· Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.

· Valid Shiftboss Certificate.

· Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines will be advantageous.

· Minimum of 5 years' proven experience in a Shiftboss role within an underground gold mining operation.

· Underground Gold Mining experience is a mandatory requirement. Candidates whose experience is limited to commodities other than gold (e.g. platinum, coal, chrome, manganese, diamonds, or iron ore) will not be considered.

· Sound knowledge of underground gold mining methods, stoping operations, development ends, and production cycles.

· Thorough understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act and associated regulations.

· Proven leadership, supervisory, and team management experience.

· Valid driver's licence.

· Medically fit to work in an underground mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Supervise and coordinate all underground mining activities during the allocated shift.

· Ensure compliance with all Mine Health and Safety requirements, company standards, and legal obligations.

· Lead and manage mining crews to achieve production, safety, and quality targets.

· Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.

· Monitor mining conditions and implement corrective actions where required.

· Ensure the safe execution of drilling, blasting, support installation, cleaning, and ore handling activities.

· Investigate incidents, accidents, and non-conformances and implement corrective measures.

· Maintain accurate production, safety, and shift reports.

· Drive operational efficiency while maintaining a strong safety culture.

A competitive market-related remuneration package will be offered based on qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.
