Job Description

As a project assistant, you will support the project management team in planning, organizing, and implementing training and consulting projects. Your daily tasks will include coordinating schedules and resources, preparing documents, maintaining participant and project data, and liaising with internal and external contacts. You will handle organizational tasks in day-to-day office operations, assist with the preparation of evaluations and reports, and contribute to the quality assurance of ongoing initiatives. This is a part-time position (avergae of 7 days / month), to be performed on-site in KZN (Durban).

Qualifications

You have strong organizational skills and a structured approach to work, ideally with experience in administrative or project support roles.

You have excellent written and spoken English skills and are proficient in using common Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and calendar applications).

You possess strong communication and teamwork skills, have a service-oriented approach, and interact with participants, clients, and colleagues in a friendly and professional manner.

You are reliable, proactive, and responsible, and can maintain a clear overview even when juggling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Experience in the education or consulting sector, as well as a completed business or administrative apprenticeship or a comparable qualification, is a plus.

1. Subject of the Assignment

Since September 2026, the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) gGmbH has been implementing a Vocational Training Partnership in South Africa in cooperation with the Thekwini TVET College and Umfolozi TVET College, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project aims to strengthen the quality and labour market relevance of vocational education and training by developing and implementing practice-oriented Green Skills training programmes in the fields of renewable energy, water management, energy efficiency and related technologies. Through curriculum development, capacity building of TVET lecturers, the establishment of practical training facilities, and close cooperation with industry partners, the project seeks to improve employment opportunities for young people and skilled workers, promote women's participation in technical professions, and contribute to South Africa’s green economic transition.

The Project Assistant shall support implementation, coordination, administration and logistics of project activities. The assistant must reside in KwaZulu-Natal (preferably Durban) and hold a valid driver’s licence.

2. Deliverables

Monthly activity reports, monthly timesheets, updated project documentation, logistical and administrative support records.

3. Quantity Structure

The number of billable working days for the assignment is foreseen as follows:

· An average of 7 days per month (depending on the workload of every month)

4. Implementation schedule

Start should be the 1st or 15th of October 2026 – 14th of September 2029 as part time position.

5. Documents provided

The following documents for the preparation and implementation of the assignment are made available to the LTE:

· Project proposal, approval documents, project reports, training materials and implementation plans.

6. Organization and Miscellaneous

Finally, the following information should be considered:

· Supporting the project team and local experts in administrative and organisational matters.

· Preparing presentations, reports and communication materials.

· Reviewing and formatting project documents and training materials.

· Organising delegation visits between South Africa and Germany.

· Organising travel, accommodation and logistics for experts and project staff.

· Supporting meetings, workshops and trainings.

· Maintaining project documentation and records.

· Coordinating with project partners and stakeholders.

· Assisting with procurement and event logistics.

· Supporting monitoring and reporting activities.

· Local transport and travel within KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa may be required.

· A valid driver's licence is mandatory.

Pay: R6 000,00 - R10 000,00 per month

Work Location: Hybrid remote in KwaZulu-Natal
