Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Midrand has an opportunity available for a Project Coordinator to join their Head Office team. The Project Coordinator coordinates and delivers strategic and operational People & Culture projects, taking ownership of assigned workstreams and ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within scope and budget, and to the required quality standards. Through disciplined planning, governance, reporting, stakeholder engagement, risk management, data analysis and change support, the role advances employee experience, organisational effectiveness, compliance and the organisation’s strategic People & Culture priorities. Essential:

  • Senior Certificate, or equivalent and a relevant diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Project Management, Organisational Development, or a related field
  • 1-3 years relevant project coordination or coordination experience in People & Culture, organisational development, or a related environment, including multiple workstreams, stakeholders, governance, reporting, risks and deliverables.

Advantageous:

  • Relevant professional certification and knowledge of South African labour and data-protection legislation.
  • Experience in transformation, employee experience, HR systems or digitisation, analytics, budgets, procurement, vendors, training or change adoption.

Job Specification...

Project Planning and Delivery

  • Coordinate the end-to-end planning, implementation, monitoring, transition and close-out of People & Culture projects.
  • Own assigned workstreams, deliverables, milestones and actions, ensuring delivery within approved scope, timelines, budget and quality standards.
  • Translate approved objectives into practical project charters, plans, schedules, work breakdown structures and measurable success criteria.
  • Coordinate resources and dependencies across concurrent projects; identify constraints, deviations and delays and escalate them promptly.
  • Maintain change control, prevent unauthorised scope changes and document lessons learned to strengthen future delivery.

Project Governance, Risk and Compliance

  • Apply organisational project methodologies, governance standards, approval processes, reporting requirements and escalation protocols.
  • Maintain accurate risk, issue, dependency, assumption, decision and action registers, with clear owners and mitigation measures.
  • Escalate material risks, unresolved issues, delays and budget concerns to the People & Culture Project Lead with recommended actions.
  • Ensure effective document control, version management, information classification, records retention and audit-ready evidence.
  • Support compliance with labour legislation, organisational policies, procurement requirements, data-protection standards and POPIA, while safeguarding confidential information.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Serve as the central coordination point for People & Culture teams, business stakeholders, employees, project teams and service providers.
  • Develop stakeholder maps, engagement plans and communication schedules tailored to audience needs and project impacts.
  • Coordinate governance forums, workshops and working sessions; prepare professional agendas, packs, presentations, minutes and action registers.
  • Communicate objectives, progress, decisions, risks, dependencies and required actions clearly and timeously.
  • Build collaborative relationships, follow up on commitments and facilitate or escalate stakeholder concerns to support timely decisions and delivery.

Project Reporting and Performance Monitoring

  • Produce accurate, timely dashboards, progress reports, governance packs and executive summaries that are clear and decision ready.
  • Track milestones, deliverables, actions, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, budgets, resources and performance indicators.
  • Consolidate information across workstreams, validate its quality and highlight variances, trends, barriers and areas requiring intervention.
  • Monitor benefits realisation and post-implementation outcomes and provide evidence-based recommendations to improve performance.

Change Management and Employee Adoption

  • Support project-specific change, communication, engagement, training and employee-adoption plans.
  • Conduct or support impact, readiness and change-risk assessments and recommend targeted interventions.
  • Equip leaders and managers to prepare employees for new systems, processes, structures, policies and ways of working.
  • Coordinate training logistics and implementation support; monitor feedback, sentiment, resistance and adoption levels.
  • Embed employee-experience considerations throughout the project lifecycle and support stabilisation and post-implementation reviews.

Data, Analytics and Continuous Improvement

  • Collect, consolidate, validate and analyse project data, resolving inconsistencies before reporting or decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, trackers and key performance measures.
  • Translate complex data into practical insights, reports and presentations on progress, risks, feedback and outcomes.
  • Support baseline assessments, benefits reviews and post-implementation evaluations.
  • Identify and implement improvements to project processes, templates, controls, governance and delivery practices.

General People & Culture Project Support

  • Provide operational and project-management support to the People & Culture Project Lead and contribute to strategic, transformation, employee-experience and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking and support business cases, presentations, project reviews and planning forums.
  • Maintain current knowledge of People & Culture, project management, technology and workplace trends and apply relevant good practice.
  • Promote collaboration, professionalism, accountability and disciplined delivery across the People & Culture function.

General

  • Comply with Dis-Chem policies, standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Proactively lead, participate in and deliver initiatives that keep culture priorities visible, reinforced and embedded across Dis-Chem.
  • Perform other project-related duties consistent with the purpose and level of the role.
