Job description
Key responsibilities
- Manage FTTH projects from planning through to completion and handover.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, milestones and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate planning, civil works, fibre construction, procurement and field operations.
- Allocate resources according to project requirements and delivery priorities.
- Monitor progress, budgets and actual expenditure against approved plans.
- Deliver Homes Passed targets and maintain required Home Connection (HOC) and quality standards.
- Identify risks, constraints and dependencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage contractors and monitor their performance against agreed standards.
- Coordinate effectively with clients, suppliers and internal departments.
- Control project changes and ensure that scope variations are properly authorised.
- Chair project progress meetings when required.
- Ensure completed areas are tested, documented and formally handed over.
- Maintain accurate project files, change records, reports and forecasts.
- Escalate critical cost, programme, quality or delivery issues.
- Support tenders, proposals and new-project scoping activities.
- Capture lessons learned and apply them to future projects.
Minimum requirements
- Matric.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
- Two to four years’ project management experience within FTTH, telecommunications or infrastructure construction.
- Sound knowledge of FTTH network design, civil works and fibre construction processes.
- Experience managing project budgets, programmes and contractor performance.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between project locations. (Include only if applicable.)
- PMP, PRINCE2 or another recognised project-management certification would be advantageous.
