Job description
PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering design projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements. The role is accountable for leading project teams, managing stakeholder relationships, driving project performance, and ensuring compliance with company procedures, client expectations, and applicable industry standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Project Planning and Delivery
- Develop and maintain project execution plans and schedules.
- Monitor project progress against scope, budget, and programme.
- Manage project risks, issues, and change requests.
- Ensure successful completion and handover of project deliverables.
- Prepare management and client reports and communicate project status effectively.
Design Coordination and Technical Management
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design activities and design reviews.
- Ensure design deliverables comply with client specifications and applicable standards.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between engineering disciplines.
- Review technical documentation prior to client submission.
- Resolve technical issues raised by internal teams and clients.
Commercial and Contract Management
- Monitor project budgets, expenditure, cash flow, and cost forecasts.
- Manage contractual obligations, project scope, and change control.
- Support procurement and subcontractor management.
- Lead contract administration and support contract negotiations where required.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party service providers.
Stakeholder and Team Management
- Lead project meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Allocate work and monitor project team performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and project personnel.
- Communicate project progress and proactively resolve stakeholder concerns.
Quality, Safety and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with company Quality Management Systems.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the project.
- Verify project compliance with applicable codes, standards, and governance requirements.
- Identify and drive opportunities for process and continuous improvement.
- Conduct project close-out reviews and capture lessons learned.
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, C&I, Process, or related Engineering discipline.
- Professional registration with ECSA or membership of a recognised engineering or project management professional body is beneficial.
- Project Management qualification aligned to PMBOK principles.
- Valid driver’s licence.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an Engineer, followed by a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management, managing engineering design or EPC projects.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
- Experience within the energy, industrial, oil & gas, or power sectors will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of PMBOK principles and engineering project lifecycle management.

- Advanced knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and PMBOK practices.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling and project controls.
- Knowledge of contract management principles and contractual obligations.
- Understanding of quality, environmental, health, and safety management systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety governance requirements.
- Understanding of business management principles and organisational processes.
- Knowledge of project financial management and commercial controls.
