Location: Remote – Latin America, Philippines, South Africa

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM U.S. hours

Compensation: $8–$10/hour , based on experience

About the Role

Our client, a U.S.-based psychiatric practice, is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Medical Assistant to support day-to-day patient and medication-related operations.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working in a psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health practice and is comfortable supporting both medication-related tasks and front-office patient coordination.

Responsibilities

• Process psychiatric medication refill requests and route them to providers as needed.
• Coordinate medication prior authorizations, including gathering documentation, submitting requests, tracking status, and following up on denials.
• Communicate with pharmacies regarding prescription, refill, availability, and insurance issues.
• Support controlled-medication workflows and prescription history checks according to practice procedures.
• Answer patient calls and assist with routine questions and requests.
• Assist with patient intake, scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment coordination.
• Document patient, pharmacy, and insurance communications accurately in the EHR.
• Recognize urgent psychiatric concerns and promptly escalate them to the appropriate licensed provider.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance when handling patient information.
• Provide general front-office support as needed.

Requirements

• 1+ year of previous experience working with a U.S. psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health practice .
• Hands-on experience with psychiatric medication refills and medication prior authorizations .
• Familiarity with psychiatric medications and controlled-medication workflows.
• Experience communicating with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies .
• Previous experience answering patient calls, scheduling appointments, and assisting with patient intake.
• Experience using an EHR and documenting patient communications.
• Strong written and spoken English with clear patient-facing communication.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to recognize when concerns require provider escalation.
• Comfortable supporting both front-office and medication-related responsibilities .
• Available for the required U.S. working hours.

Nice to Have

• Experience with CoverMyMeds .
• Experience with SPRAVATO (esketamine) prior authorizations or coordination.
• Experience with PDMP/PMP systems for controlled medications.
• Previous experience in a remote or telepsychiatry practice.
