Job description

Location: Cape Town

Employment Type: Part-Time / Flexible

Sector: Health, Wellness & Longevity

ABOUT THE ROLE

A growing health and wellness organisation is looking for a Psychologist to join its multidisciplinary team.

The organisation takes a proactive, whole-person approach to health, combining physical, mental and lifestyle factors to help clients improve their overall wellbeing and long-term quality of life.

This is an opportunity for a psychologist who is interested in working beyond a traditional therapy model and who understands the connection between mental health, behaviour, lifestyle and physical wellbeing.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will provide professional psychological support to clients while contributing to a broader, multidisciplinary approach to health and wellbeing.

You will work with clients around areas such as emotional wellbeing, stress, anxiety, behaviour change, resilience, lifestyle and personal development.

The role will suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively and is interested in helping clients make practical, sustainable changes rather than simply addressing problems once they arise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct psychological consultations and assessments within your professional scope.
  • Provide evidence-based psychological support to adult clients.
  • Support clients dealing with stress, anxiety, burnout, emotional wellbeing and life transitions.
  • Help clients understand behavioural and psychological factors affecting their health and lifestyle.
  • Support behaviour change, motivation and the development of sustainable habits.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare and wellness practitioners.
  • Refer clients to appropriate specialists where required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.
  • Build trusted, professional relationships with clients.
  • Contribute to wellness workshops, educational initiatives or client programmes where appropriate.
  • Provide psychological insight as part of a broader, personalised approach to client wellbeing.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Experience or a strong interest in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Health psychology
  • Behaviour change
  • Stress and burnout
  • Anxiety and emotional wellbeing
  • Lifestyle psychology
  • Performance and resilience
  • Mind-body health
  • Sleep and recovery
  • Preventative mental health
  • Healthy ageing and longevity
  • Workplace wellbeing
  • Emotional and behavioural patterns

Experience working with adult professionals and high-functioning clients would be beneficial.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Master's-level qualification in Psychology.
  • Current HPCSA registration.
  • Appropriate registration to practise independently.
  • Experience working with adult clients.
  • Strong clinical and therapeutic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality and ethical practice.

Advantageous

  • Experience within a healthcare, wellness or multidisciplinary environment.
  • Training in behavioural change, CBT, mindfulness, coaching or related approaches.
  • Interest in preventative health, longevity and healthy ageing.
  • Experience delivering workshops or educational programmes.
  • Understanding of the relationship between psychological and physical wellbeing.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Warm and personable – able to build genuine relationships with clients.
  • Evidence-led – grounded in sound psychological practice.
  • Collaborative – comfortable working alongside practitioners from different disciplines.
  • Practical – able to turn psychological insight into actionable strategies.
  • Curious – interested in the evolving fields of health, wellness and longevity.
  • Professionally minded – understands the importance of confidentiality, boundaries and ethical practice.
  • Growth-oriented – interested in preventative health and helping people improve their long-term wellbeing.

WHAT'S ON OFFER

  • Part-time and flexible working arrangement.
  • Opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary health and wellness environment.
  • Professional and client-focused setting.
  • Opportunity to work with clients who are actively invested in their health and wellbeing.
  • Potential to contribute to workshops and broader wellbeing initiatives.
  • Opportunity to grow within an evolving health and longevity-focused organisation.

Remuneration: Negotiable based on experience and working arrangement.
