Qualified Diesel Mechanic

Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs diesel-powered vehicles (heavy vehicles), focusing on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes and, component replacements to ensure safety and compliance.
• Running diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and maintaining detailed repair records.
• Repairing/replacing engines, transmissions, brake systems, and steering mechanisms.
• Performing preventative maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections.
• Maintaining detailed service records and work orders.
• Test-driving trucks to ensure safe, functional operation.
• Explaining repair needs and costs to customers.
• Maintaining a clean and safe, organized work environment.
• Ensure quality checks and processes are adhered to throughout.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric
• Diesel Mechanic qualification compulsory (Red seal - Merseta approved)
• Valid driver’s license (code 10 or higher will be advantageous)
• Strong diagnostic skills to identify complex mechanical issues and strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Skilled in using heavy-duty diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and precision instruments
• Strong interpersona and communication skills
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in a qualified Diesel Mechanic position in the truck/ automotive industry
• Must have extensive truck and truck parts knowledge
• Medically fit
• Computer literate
• Willing to travel
• Fully bilingual
