QUALIFIED HOUSEKEEPER

5-Star Hospitality Establishment | Stellenbosch | Full-time

We are looking for a formally qualified and experienced Housekeeper to join our team at a prestigious 5-star hospitality establishment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, hygiene and guest comfort, ensuring that our accommodation and guest areas consistently meet the standards expected of a luxury establishment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and service guest rooms and suites to 5-star standards.
• Ensure rooms are immaculately clean, well presented and fully prepared before guest arrival.
• Complete daily housekeeping and room servicing requirements.
• Clean and maintain bathrooms to exceptional hygiene and presentation standards.
• Manage linen, towels and guest amenities.
• Maintain designated public and guest areas to the required standard.
• Inspect rooms and report maintenance issues, damage or missing items.
• Replenish guest amenities and housekeeping supplies.
• Handle guest belongings with care, professionalism and complete discretion.
• Assist with laundry and linen management where required.
• Prepare rooms for VIP guests, special occasions and events.
• Follow housekeeping procedures, checklists and quality standards.
• Maintain housekeeping equipment and work areas in a clean and organised condition.
• Work closely with the Guesthouse Manager and hospitality team to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

Minimum Requirements

• Formal, recognised qualification in Housekeeping, Hospitality or a related field.
• Previous experience in a 4/5-star hotel, luxury guesthouse, lodge or similar establishment.
• Proven knowledge of professional housekeeping, cleaning and hygiene standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for presentation.
• Professional, reliable and trustworthy.
• High level of discretion when dealing with guests and their personal belongings.
• Ability to work independently and maintain consistently high standards without constant supervision.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hospitality hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
• Ability to commute to work on a daily basis (the establishment is in a remote setting with no public transport. Employee transport is provided to and from Stellenbosch)

Physical Fitness & Personal Hygiene:

• Must be physically capable of performing the duties required in a housekeeping environment, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying and repetitive cleaning activities.
• Must maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, grooming and appearance appropriate to a 5-star hospitality environment.
• Must be able to consistently maintain the required housekeeping, hygiene and cleanliness standards while performing the duties of the position.
