Quality Assurance (SAP Test Analyst)

Purpose

The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for planning, designing and executing testing across the TNPA SAP landscape to ensure that configured and developed solutions meet business, functional and technical requirements before release. The role safeguards the quality and integrity of SAP changes delivered into the production environment in support of TNPA’s operations.

The incumbent embeds quality-assurance disciplines across the SAP delivery lifecycle, manages the defect lifecycle, and provides objective assurance to the project and support teams and to management.

Responsibilities

• Develop test strategies, test plans and detailed test cases / scripts aligned to business and functional requirements across the relevant SAP modules.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, data-migration and performance testing, and coordinate and support user-acceptance testing (UAT).
• Establish and maintain test data and test environments in conjunction with the SAP Basis team.
• Log, track, prioritise and manage defects to closure, and report on test progress, coverage and quality metrics.
• Validate that transports and changes meet defined entry / exit (quality-gate) criteria before promotion through the landscape.
• Support and, where appropriate, introduce test-management and automation tooling (e.g. SAP Solution Manager Test Suite, HP ALM / equivalent).
• Verify adherence of deliverables to TNPA quality standards and provide sign-off recommendations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, standards and templates within the SAP team.
• Liaise with Business Analysts, developers, functional consultants and the Project Manager on quality matters, keeping stakeholders informed of risks and issues.

Position Challenges

• Ensuring adequate test coverage across integrated SAP modules within compressed delivery timelines.
• Securing representative test data and stable test environments for reliable results.
• Maintaining regression coverage as the landscape evolves through upgrades and enhancements.

Decision Making

• Determine the testing approach, scope and prioritisation for each change or release.
• Assess defect severity and provide quality-gate / release-readiness recommendations.
• Recommend acceptance or rejection of deliverables against defined quality criteria.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree / National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Software-testing certification (e.g. ISTQB) is advantageous.
• 5 years’ software quality-assurance / testing experience, including experience testing SAP solutions.
• Knowledge of both waterfall and agile testing methodologies.

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of test planning, test-case design and defect management.
• Experience with test-management tools (e.g. SAP Solution Manager Test Suite, HP ALM or equivalent).
• Understanding of SAP business processes and cross-module integration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills.
