Quality Control Welding Inspector (level 1)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Control Welding Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting welding and fabrication work to ensure that all products meet the required quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate must have solid experience in pressure vessel fabrication, a strong understanding of welding quality standards, and the ability to identify and report defects to ensure compliance with applicable specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect welding and fabrication work to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Conduct visual welding inspections and identify welding defects or non-conformances.
• Inspect pressure vessel fabrication to ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards.
• Verify that welding procedures and workmanship meet the required specifications.
• Review and maintain quality control documentation and inspection reports.
• Identify, record, and report quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and applicable industry standards.
• Work closely with production, welding, and fabrication teams to maintain high-quality standards.
• Monitor corrective actions to ensure identified defects are resolved.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure traceability of inspection activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12).
• SAIW Level 1 qualification as a minimum requirement.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in quality control and welding inspection.
• Proven experience in pressure vessel fabrication is essential.
• Good knowledge of welding processes, inspection techniques, and welding defects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Good communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
