About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Concrete Quality Controller to join our team in Harare, Zimbabwe. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in the ready-mix concrete/concrete manufacturing industry and possess strong knowledge of concrete quality standards, testing procedures, and troubleshooting quality-related issues.

The role is responsible for ensuring that all concrete products meet the required quality specifications, customer expectations, and industry standards through effective quality control processes.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain the quality of ready-mix concrete throughout the production process.

Conduct quality inspections and testing of raw materials, fresh concrete, and hardened concrete.

Perform and supervise concrete tests, including:

Slump Test

Cube/Cylinder Compression Test

Air Content Test

Temperature Test

Density Test

Ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable quality standards.

Investigate concrete quality issues and identify root causes.

Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality concerns.

Coordinate with the batching plant, production team, and site engineers to ensure consistent concrete quality.

Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, laboratory test results, and quality reports.

Monitor material quality, including cement, aggregates, admixtures, and water.

Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of laboratory testing equipment.

Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related field.

3–7 years of experience in Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC), Concrete Manufacturing, or Construction Materials Quality Control.

Strong knowledge of concrete mix designs, batching processes, and quality control procedures.

Hands-on experience in concrete laboratory testing and field quality inspections.

Good understanding of international concrete quality standards and testing methods.

Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve concrete quality-related issues.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and reporting abilities.

Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) for documentation and reporting.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of concrete mix optimization.

Experience with batching plant operations.

Familiarity with quality management systems.

Strong attention to detail and documentation.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Mandatory Requirements

Must have prior experience in the Concrete/Ready-Mix Concrete business.

Must possess strong knowledge of concrete quality control processes.

Must be capable of identifying and resolving concrete quality issues.

Hands-on experience in concrete testing and laboratory procedures is mandatory.

Willingness to relocate and work in Harare, Zimbabwe.
